Karina Wisniewska

1966 Born in Venice/Italy to Polish-Swiss parents. Moved to Switzerland following sojourns in Egypt, the USA and Berlin. Early discovery and fostering of musical and artistic gifts. Began piano lessons at the age of five and three-times prize-winner Swiss Young Musicians' Competition.

1992–2000 International concert career as soloist and chamber musician. Concert activities among others at the Lucerne International Festival of Music, the Wiener Festwochen, the Philharmony of Berlin, the Music Festival of Baden-Baden and the Saint Petersburg White Nights Festival. 1993 premiere of Rachmaninov’s First Piano Concerto in the original version, 1994 its first recording as a world premiere with the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra under the conduction of Vladimir Fedosejev. 10 award-winning CD recordings, numerous international radio recordings and television appearances.

Since 1991 Author and Editor. Regular projects with various publishing houses and concert organizers as well as freelance contributions as a columnist for different culture magazines. Publication of music-philosophical essays (Benteli Verlag, Berne). Well-known on the lecture circuit, used to be a frequent guest at talk-shows broadcast by the Swiss Radio.

2000
Move to own studio in order to concentrate exclusively on painting.
Lives and works in Baden/Switzerland.
